Answers to our most frequently asked questions

  • WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
    We are in the Colonial Heights section of northeast Yonkers.
  • ARE THERE ANY SUBSTITUTIONS IF I AM VEGETARIAN, GLUTEN-FREE, OR HAVE ALLERGIES?
    Absolutely! If you are taking a group class, please email me Hello@gatherculinary.com to discuss substitutions. If you are taking a private lesson, these menus are customized and can be tailored specifically to you.
  • DO YOU USE NUTS?
    We do not use nuts in our recipes, but we are not a nut free facility.
  • WHAT ABOUT OTHER ALLERGENS?
    Our facility contains allergens that may come into contact with your food in classes and events. Since allergens are present at our facility and cross-contact can easily occur, we cannot guarantee any item to be allergen free. Gather Culinary will try to make every effort to accommodate customers. We cannot be held liable for any contact or consumption of allergens that may occur in our facility. If you have concerns, please email Hello@gatherculinary.com about any food allergies before booking to see if the class/camp is a good fit for you or other participants.
  • ARE YOUR CLASSES HANDS-ON?
    Yes, all classes, unless noted otherwise, are hands-on. Each participant has their own cutting board and knives. The class is structured that you will briefly sit to discuss techniques, recipes and questions answered. There is typically a demonstration of techniques and then participants begin. In group classes we all work together to complete the recipes and in private classes the participants complete the recipes.
  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
    We recommend wearing casual clothes that you wouldn't mind getting messy. In addition, closed-toe shoes should be worn for safety, and long hair should be pulled back.
  • WHEN AND HOW DO I PAY?
    Virtual Group class payment is paid online upon booking. In-person classes can be booked directly through the website. If you prefer to pay by check, please call 347-835-3454 or email melanie@gatherculinary.com Private class payments can be invoiced or book directly through the website. Full payment is required to secure the date for the class.
  • WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY?
    Payment & Refund Policies: *To register for any class, payment in full is required at the time of registration. *A full refund will be issued if Gather Culinary cancels your course. *All sales are final. Due to limited seating, prep time, and scheduling that go into creating classes, we do not offer refunds. You are welcome to send someone to attend in your place. Please email us @ hello@gatherculinary.com to let us know who will attend in your place *We cannot make exceptions to this policy for scheduling conflicts, last-minute illnesses, or no-shows. *Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be made up.
  • DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE COOKING OR BAKING CLASSES?
    Yes, we offer private cooking and baking classes. More information can be found here https://www.gatherculinary.com/private-classes
  • WHERE ARE PRIVATE CLASSES HELD?
    Classes can be held in your kitchen or mine.
  • DO I NEED TO SIGN A WAIVER TO TAKE A CLASS?
    All students must sign a waiver before they are permitted to cook with us in the kitchen. Students under 18 must have this form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Any students without a signed waiver will not be able to participate. The waiver is valid for one calendar year.
